The foundation of the village of Granja do Tedo is shrouded in legends that intersect with historical facts, making it difficult to distinguish reality.
It is a parish rich in history and cultural heritage. Archaeological remains take us back to the Roman period. This is the case of the Roman road that connects this parish to Longa and Leomil and the bridges that cross the Tedo and Tedinho rivers.
A curious fact, which even today the population avoids remembering, is the phenomenon of the Arca da Aliança, a religious sect that Maria Coroada established in the place in the second half of the century. XIX and which gave rise to the so-called Schism of Granja do Tedo.
Granja do Tedo is the most unique village in Tabuaço due to the sum of legends and historical traits that it keeps.
It is made up of two peoples: the lower, older people; and the people from above, united by a magnificent old Romanesque bridge, perhaps from the 17th century, which allows passage over the sublime river Tedo.
This river allows this village to have a beautiful river beach, which delights the population and visitors in the hot season of the year, surrounded by a garden space, where there are several tile panels that tell the legend of the Christian knight D. Thedon and of the Moorish princess, Ardínia.
The lower town, older, offers, to those who look at it from above, a dazzling lesson in urban organization skilfully developed around the Mother Church, between the river and the mountain.
