Monte Fair
Taking place since the 16th century.

Feira do Monte, one of the oldest in the Alentejo Coast, has been held since the 16th century, initially the festivities took place in the former Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte on the day dedicated to her homage.

This free fair is a symbol of our roots and our culture and is the showcase of our endogenous products and handicrafts, which are associated with shows and various initiatives of a cultural and gastronomic nature.

Feira do Monte is currently held at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Santiago do Cacém, usually on the last weekend of August.

For three or four days, the Fair shows the traditions of the Municipality, but also of the Alentejo region, through the numerous programs, tents and taverns spread around the enclosure.

The most varied concerts, Dj’s, Cante Alentejano, Fado à despique and among other musical initiatives are presented.

The showcooking dedicated to the confection and tasting of endogenous products, such as tomatoes, bread, eels, Bolo de Santiago, alcomonias, Gin, attract the most sweet-toothed.

Visitors are also offered the Espaço Criança, Tuk-Tuk rides, bullfights, traditional games, workshops, streets and dance exhibitions, not forgetting entertainment, snacks and sweets.

A prize is awarded to the best stand and piece of handicraft/regional products.

During the event, the Photography Contest Prizes are also awarded, whose images are on display.

This secular fair attracts thousands of people to the Municipality and is a fundamental vehicle for promoting the territory and tourism.

Feira do Monte is a showcase of the best that is done in the Municipality and where you can experience unforgettable moments.
