This Festival takes place on the weekend before Carnival Tuesday, where the jewel of the smokehouse from Trás-os-Montes is in evidence.
Held in the heart of the city’s historic center, where dozens of exhibitors sell all types of smoked meats and the most varied gastronomic experiences linked to the theme take place.
During the Butelo e das Casulas Festival, it will be possible to purchase the butelo and the chasubles, as well as all Trás-os-Montes sausages and vegetables directly from the producers, in a space set up for this purpose in Praça Camões. At the same time, the Butelo and Casulas Gastronomic Week also takes place in participating restaurants in the city, so that connoisseurs and the curious can enjoy this dish.
It is also this weekend that the Caretos Carnival takes place, which features various groups of masked people from Portugal and Spain.
The various groups gather in Praça Cavaleiro Ferreira and from there begin the parade through the streets of the Historic District of Bragança, which are filled with color, music and lots of entertainment and mischief. The parade ends in Largo do Castelo with the “Queima do Diabo”, accompanied by a fire show.
