About two dozen restaurants present gastronomic proposals inspired by the culinary traditions aboard cod ships over time but do not forget the innovation around flavors.
In addition to the gastronomic proposals, and for all those who enjoy food, it will also be possible to travel around the territory to the emblematic places of long-distance, coastal and lagoon fishing, and learn about the traditions, beliefs and even the innovation surrounding these fisheries, their cooks and food production and processing companies and their products.

The Onboard Gastronomy Festival, which takes place in Ílhavo during the month of November, is part of a trilogy of festivals with the same name and which also take place in Peniche (focused on coastal fishing) and Murtosa (focused on lagoon fishing), having emerged within the scope of the cultural project Territories with History: the Sea, the Fisheries and the Communities.
Each restaurant presents its own gastronomic proposal, consisting of a tasting of at least 3 dishes associated with or inspired by on-board cuisine, also presenting some of its emblematic dishes related to this theme.
The festival also includes several interpreted visits, which can take place on foot, by bicycle, bus or boat to the most identifiable cultural aspects of the municipality. Occasionally, these visits include tastings with local or national chefs or cooks.
