At the top of Rua Formosa, between the 1920s and 1930s, the building that would house the Bank of Portugal was built. Its design is due to João de Moura d’Eça.
Architecturally, it is guided by its monumentality of classical tradition, combining different building materials in the definition of plastic language. Marble, granite and iron bring harmony to the architectural ensemble that shapes Rossio.
