Created in 2013, the Georges Dussaud Photography Center is a space dedicated to the work of the French photographer Georges Dussaud and to photography in general.
The CFGD occupies the first floor of the Paulo Quintela building, where, in addition to temporary exhibitions, a unique collection is presented by this prestigious photographer who, since 1980, has developed his work on and in our country, and, in a way very particular, about Trás-os-Montes.
From the wide narrative of black and white images, life stories stand out, “miraculously intact” rural universes, populated by men, women and children, but also by places, looks, work scenes, rituals, gestures and unrepeatable moments about a disappeared Trás-os-Montes.
Of the approximately 200 photographs that make up this extraordinary collection, where the documentary and the artistic intersect, the authorial mark of a photographer who always claimed a positive and poetic view of reality for his images stands out.
