Centro de Interpretação Garcia D’Orta
Relevant figure of the Portuguese Renaissance

Installed in the building of the former Termas de Castelo de Vide, this museum space is dedicated to Garcia d’Orta, a New Christian born in Castelo de Vide, a relevant figure of the Portuguese Renaissance and an important naturalist doctor of worldwide dimension.

One of the first references to the waters of Castelo de Vide dates from 1706, and refers to the Fonte da Vila, whose construction must date back to the reign of King João III.
The spa was completed in 1942, with the design of the architects Ernesto and Camilo Korrodi, and the spa operated until the beginning of the 90s.
