Building inaugurated on July 25, 1915. It is one of the cultural and architectural landmarks of the sertaginense village.
Construction of the building began on April 21, 1913, on land acquired by Grémio Certaginense (today Clube da Sertã) from Maria Clementina Mascarenhas Relvas. The plan of the building was prepared by Admiral Tasso de Figueiredo and the works were directed by Jerónimo Albino and Manuel da Costa.
The new Teatro Tasso, named after the actor José Tasso, Tasso de Figueiredo’s uncle, was inaugurated on July 25, 1915. The building housed, in addition to the theatre, the new headquarters of the then Grémio Certaginense.
Originally destined for the theater, it underwent adaptation works for film projections in the 1930s. In 1945, 1953, 1967 and 1999, it was the target of different interventions, with a view to its adaptation to and Established on January 25 In 1888, Clube da Sertã began to be called Club Certaginense and later Grémio Certaginense, having settled in this building in July 1915. This community has always played a central role in the life of the municipality, with the aim of providing its members with recreation and sport, through activities related to reading, family gatherings, literary and musical soirees, legal games and sports competitions, demands of the regulars at the time.
This was, for many years, the only room in the village of Sertã capable of hosting cultural and recreational shows. Several theater companies have passed through here, the greatest hits of Portuguese and foreign cinema, meetings with countless personalities of culture and the arts and meetings that have marked the history of the municipality of Sertã.
