The Teatro Gil Vicente, founded in 1902, is a reference cultural space, managed and promoted by the Municipality of Barcelos.
Construction from the end of the 19th century, with a facade in the neoclassical revivalist style. It is the oldest concert hall in the city. Its construction was due to the indomitable will of a handful of natives, among which we highlight the brothers António and Abel Fiúza, Manuel Viana and Drs. Martins Lima, Rodrigo Veloso, António Ferraz and José Vieira Ramos who, at the end of the 19th century, began to think about building their own and worthy space to represent this noble Art of Talma.
