A palatial house from the end of the 18th century, it was the home of several important figures of local and national life, such as the September minister Passos Manuel, Jacinto de Sousa Falcão and his wife, a descendant of one of the lineage of the twelve of England, Doctor Francisco de Oliveira Moncada, Governor-General of Angola and Professor Pintor José Campas.
It has belonged, since the 1970s, to José Ramoa Ferreira, known as Zé Brasileiro, Portuguese from Braga in the verses of Vasco de Lima Couto (1923-1980).
The poet lived in this house for the last four years of his life. After his death, it was transformed into a House-Museum, inaugurated by the President of the Republic General Ramalho Eanes in 1981.
It houses Lima Couto’s personal objects and many originals, especially correspondence exchanged with friends, as well as a rich art collection consisting of furniture and paintings.
