Church of Santo Quintino
History and unique beauty

The Church of Santo Quintino, of Manueline and Renaissance architecture, is considered one of the most beautiful temples in the region. Rich for its interior full of unique tiles, the church of Santo Quintino stands out for its history and unique beauty.

Heritage from the reign of King Manuel I, the Church of Santo Quintino is one of the most beautiful churches in the region. Ordered to build in 1520, the church is assumed to be a relic of a distant past. Outside, the main portal, dating from 1530, stands out, surrounded by two pilasters and a triangular pediment, combining in itself various decorative elements from the Manueline and Renaissance styles. Its interior consists of four chapels and three naves, divided by columns. The interior is particularly noteworthy for its magnificent covering with different tile panels, which feature unique patterns, ranging from the 16th to the 18th century. The target of several interventions at different times, the Church of Santo Quintino was classified as a National Monument in 1910.

Additional notes

One of the oldest churches in the region, the church stands out not only for the altar and image of the French Saint, Santo Quintino, but also for its 15th century planks. However, the church still has a unique reputation for its diversity of tiles, which is considered a true Museum of Tiles.
