In the spring of 1693 the first stone was laid for the building of the church of the Convent of the Congregation of the Priests of the Oratory of S. Filipe de Nery, established in Viseu from 1688. However, the church present in Largo D. António Alves Martins was rebuilt in the 18th century, under the guidance of António Mendes Coutinho.
Artistically, it presents a sober façade and a great technical balance defined by the portal and balcony flanked by large windows and niches. Its interior stands out for its simplicity and spaciousness, filled with light that hits the old pipe organ from the cathedral of Viseu.
