The Interactive Rurality Center of Arronches is installed in the space of the old Porto Manes olive oil mill, deactivated since 2008.
It was the subject of a recovery and rehabilitation project by the Municipality of Arronches, inaugurated on June 23, 2019.
The Interactive Rurality Center of Arronches is a space for sharing intergenerational memories that honors all people who have been linked to rural work.
The Interactive Rurality Center of Arronches’ permanent exhibition shows visitors the different phases of the agricultural cycle, namely the cereal cultivation process.
Over the course of several years, the municipality acquired pieces, which refer to the practice of traditional agriculture. We can also observe the first technological transformations that occurred with greater intensity from the middle of the 20th century.
Reference is made to the various agricultural operations and respective work tools: sowing, weeding, mowing, hauling and threshing. Complementary trades are also covered, such as the blacksmith and the carpenter.
The Interactive Rurality Center of Arronches, is located in the village of Arronches, district of Portalegre, Alto Alentejo.
