The Interpretation Center aims to contribute to the revaluation, recovery, innovation and relaunch of Castelo Branco Embroidery, the ex-libris of the city and the Municipality, a unique form of artistic expression.
The creation of the Interpretation Center resulted from the recovery of an iconographic building in Castelo Branco, Domus Municipalis, former Casa da Vila, former Jail and, more recently, Municipal Library, located in Praça de Camões, or Praça Velha, which delimits the Historic Zone , of medieval design, and the new city.
Of recognized beauty and an example of originality at the national level, Embroidery from Castelo Branco has two dominant characteristics: artistic origin and economic significance. The first demonstrates the existence of an art of its own, with a peculiar style, the second highlights the concentration of this embroidery industry in the District of Castelo Branco.
The Interpretation Centre, in addition to being a museum and a shop, also houses the Castelo Branco Embroidery Workshop-School, which brings together some of the most capable embroiderers, craftsmen of genuine Embroidery pieces from Castelo Branco, currently in the final stage of the process of Certification.
Castelo Branco embroidery is a heritage that Albicastrenses are very proud of and that is part of the history of Portugal. Come meet her.
