São João da Boavista Viewpoint
Promise of a father who saw his blind son healed
In the parish of São João de Tarouca, overlooking the River Varosa, is the Viewpoint of São João da Boa Vista. Legend has it that the belvedere was built on the promise of a father who saw his blind son healed by a Cistercian monk who lived in the monastery.
From this viewpoint it is possible to observe the imposing Monastery of São João de Tarouca, as well as the surrounding village.
