Set of mills, built during the reign of King Dinis, the first king who in our country, especially in Entre-Douro-e-Minho, encouraged and developed the milling industry. Until then, it was almost exclusively carried out by the effort of man or animal, first crushing the grain between two stones and then using the pestle and mortar.
The invention of water mills (azenhas) opened a new era in milling, an activity previously carried out by the mill-a-arms. These communal mills belonged to the King and it was stated that half of their income would go to the Crown.
They are located along the old Levada da Víbora, forming an architectural complex of great importance and extraordinary beauty.
