Dedicated to the history of the use of iron in Moncorvo from its ancient times to the present day and to the archeology of the region. It has horticultural space and a garden, which is located on a slope with several terraces, containing a pavilion dedicated to the practice of cultural activities.
The Moncorvo Iron & Region Museum (MFRM) is a museological and cultural institution designed to promote knowledge and dissemination of the archaeological and industrial heritage of the territory, the villages and communities that were formed in the vicinity of the Reboredo mountain range and the Vale da Vilariça, with particular emphasis on activities related to iron exploration. Its mission is to study and preserve the territory’s archaeological and industrial heritage, and, through it, promote its dissemination, focusing on a set of activities of an educational nature, with the purpose of developing throughout the local community and those who visit it, a awareness that values local history.
