Inaugurated in 1998, the Museum of Rivers and Maritime Arts has the mission of collecting, studying, valuing and disseminating the memory of the times when Constância was one of the most important ports on the Middle Tagus and its economy was based on river transport, construction and ship repairs, trade and fishing.
These activities, as well as the Festa de Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem, organized by the village’s seafarers every year around Easter, are documented in the various sections of the Museum’s permanent exhibition, through miniatures of boats, fishing nets, objects of daily use. , utensils, tools, photographs and a small caulking workshop with a boat in the initial construction phase.
Frequently visited by tourists and school students, the Museum of Rivers and Maritime Arts provides a journey towards a different Constância from the one we know today, with a different relationship with the rivers that marked the place where he was born and grew up.
