The Museu dos Têxteis – MUTEX in Castelo Branco is a facility that aims to convey to visitors knowledge about the industrial and technical heritage of the textile sector.

As well as honoring all those who contributed to the development of the Parish of Cebolais de Cima and Retaxo, through the industrial activity of textiles. In this way, recognition of the social, cultural and economic values that textiles have fostered in this place is carried out, having as its main support the entrepreneurship of this community.

The Museu dos Têxteis comprises a museum space where the firm’s original mechanisms have been preserved in loco, which include the production phases related to carding and spinning. It also includes an experimental space, where there is an audiovisual room and mechanisms related to the weaving process. Between these two floors, we find a third intermediate space, called “memory space”, which aims to present tributes to the workers and entrepreneurs responsible for the creation of this industry.

It also includes a manual weaving workshop and a business archive.

This museum also has a shop where you can buy textiles and handicrafts.
