From the square of the Parish Council of Macedo do Mato, the route goes west until you find the Ribeira de Vale de Crasto, which follows downstream. Upon reaching a junction, head left, then take the path on the right that goes up through the olive grove. The next cut leads down to Regato do Borteal, which we cross, skirting Cabeço da Barreira on the right and heading towards Sanceriz. As you pass the center of the village, you can see several diving fountains, dovecotes, the pillory and the Igreja Matriz. It is also possible to take a detour to the water mill in Sanceriz.
On leaving the village, go around Cabeço da Forca on the right, going down to the Ribeira de Vilalva and following a rural path that follows this stream towards Frieira (upstream). When crossing the Romanesque bridge, another recently restored watermill appears on our left. Continuing straight ahead, you will pass the chapel of S. João, the Igreja Matriz and the pillory of Friera.
Upon reaching the cross, take the path on the left, which leads the hiker back to Macedo do Mato. Again we find Olival and the Ribeira de Vale de Crasto which we now follow upstream
