The Downhill slopes of Serra de Santa Helena have been increasingly recognized among practitioners of the sport, attracting athletes who frequently travel here to train and compete. The three existing tracks are considered by specialists to be the best in the country, tearing up the highest mountain in the municipality, allowing for a fast and breathtaking descent, starting next to the sanctuary.

There are currently three downhill tracks – Pista da Carqueja, Pista das Lanternas and Pista das Cruzes, the latter being the most difficult.

Tarouca has been recognized nationally and internationally as a reference destination for the practice of the modality, having already hosted, in recent years, competitions of the Portuguese Cup and the National Championship.
