“RIJOMAX” is the name given by its builder to the most complete, complex, exotic and unusual example of watchmaking known and has motivated authentic pilgrimages to the Interactive Tourism Store, where it is currently located.
It took Amândio José Ribeiro more than twenty-eight years to develop his extraordinary invention, which has perplexed foreign technicians who travel to Tabuaço to observe such a mysterious machine.

The famous “RIJOMAX” clock indicated the apparent movements of the Sun and the Moon, seconds, minutes, 24 hours, universal time, lunar time, marks leap years, automatically deleting 24 years from 128 to 128.
It indicated sunrise and sunset, when the days wax and wane, it marked day and night with a daily scale of how many hours and minutes there are in day and night. It marked the equinoxes, the solstices and the phases of the moon with the light it received from the said sun.
