Pedestrian Routes are a physical activity with high levels of demand and which is part of a “Sport for All” perspective, since it covers various age groups and socioeconomic segments. In 2007, the Municipality of Viseu began the creation of a Municipal Network of Pedestrian Routes, through the Ribeira de Várzea Route, in the parish of Calde.
During the years 2008, 2009 and 2010, more than 11 Pedestrian Routes were inaugurated. Namely, in the Parishes of Campo, Cepão, Côta, Mundão, S. João de Lourosa, Santos-Êvos, Ranhados, Fragosela, Torredeita, Silgueiros and Barreiros.
