In order to respond to the needs of residents and tourists who visit us, the Municipality of Fafe took advantage of the layout of the railway line that connected Fafe to Guimarães, which was deactivated in 1986, and created a cycle touring track.

The 15.4 km shared cycling track crosses part of the municipality of Fafe, on the southwest side, and part of the municipality of Guimarães, on the east side. The municipality of Fafe has 8.3 km and the remaining 7.1 km are in the municipality of Guimarães. Along the track there are relaxation points with furniture that allows for different uses and drinking fountains at key points, properly signposted.

The layout of this equipment is based on the principle that circulation on the Cycling Track takes priority over all the roads that cross it, following a rule defined by the Municipality of Fafe, which is not the case on some cycle touring tracks and ecovias.
